Conveyencing quotes/costs>>>

Afternoon all!

I am about to buy a house (or try to) and have been given a conveyencing quote as below. Of course this is from the Estate Agents recommended solicitor and so I am sure will be more expensive but wanted to get more experienced people to comment on it. Is it expensive?

Cheers - Mc

Where abouts in the country are you? Only the legal fee seems pretty reasonable compared to many of the various solicitor quotes I've had.

You can save money by filling out your own SDLT form and saving £90 straight off. I'm sure others will be able to advise if anything else can be discounted from the details/figures given.

My advice would be to shop around and get a few quotes to compare. The ea usually gets a kick back from the solicitor for recommending you and in reality it is you that is paying to line his pocket.

My ea recommended solicitor is at least £400 more than the solicitor I've used before in previous sales/purchases, so I think I'm going to stick with them again. At least I know they are fairly efficient and you can always get to speak to the solicitor doing the work for you when you phone, which is important to me.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Well, I don't know the area as I'm in a London suburb, but price sounds good to me.

About the highest sale and purchase prices I've been quoted for solicitors legal fee have been £650+vat (each) so thats getting on for £1600 before every other little and big thing is added on.

It doesn't sound unreasonable to me.

You can check the cheapest on compare and convey (google it) and see how it stacks up. If it's local it may be worth paying a little extra for.

Quote seems average and reasonable to me given the quotes within the firm I work for.
