Car Hire Insurance in the USA Questions

Hi,

I'm looking at hiring a car in the good ol' USA and to be honest, I'm a little confused about what insurances are included and what is still needed.
I have heard that Airline-network is a good place to go for car hire as this includes:

Unlimited Mileage, Loss Damage Waiver, Supplemental Liability Insurance, Under or Uninsured Motorist Protection, Airport Tax, Road Tax, State Taxes, all Customer Facility Charges (CFC's) and Homeland Security Fees (HSF's), and 24 Hour breakdown assistance.

This is all included in the price, but is there anything else that I need? What are they likely to try and sell at the desk?

Any help is greatly received.
Thanks

Not much left for them to try and sell you, probably only Personal Accident Insurance, which you will probably already have cover for on your travel insurance, although check your tavel ins. small print to make sure.

Usually worth upgrading with Airline Network to "platinum" or whatever they call it these days as this includes a tank of petrol and any other drivers. When I booked the upgrade was -£20, so £20 off and a tank of fuel

https://www.uscarhire.co.uk is another good one to use.

If you have everything prepaid then the only thing they'll try and sell you is an upgrade to the next car - probably because they don't have the one you booked.

The last few times we've just booked the ecomony 2 door. to be honest I don't think they've got such a car in the fleet as I've yet to see one. Each time we've come away with a 4 door minimim Compact going by the descriptions. Don't let them tell you you won't fit your luggage in the boot (trunk) either. We just managed to fit our two large suitcases into the boot of the car we had at the time a renault scenic to get to the airport. When I saw the hire car I expected we'd need to have one on the back seat. I though OH had forgotten to put the case in the car but he hadn't, they both fitted in the hire care without a problem .

car hire in North America seems to be a lot more transparent than sneaky europe.

The one exception i have found is through major Tour operators

Virgin and their proudly advertised  "long term partner" Dollar are by far the worst i have discovered . love the quote buried in the small print . Dollar does not regonise any other Car insurance except it's own". i.e you must buy our very crap very over priced insurance.

    Kunoi are equally as bad.

booked a car through Travelbag in Canada with similar terms that you have been quoted and was only offered personal accident insurance ( thats what i have travel insurance for thanks) when i collected evrything else covered including zero excess.

good link to read before hiring any car espically rip off europe
