The only explanation is that your employer hasn't credited your salary yet.
    I work for Natwest.

Just looked through my old statements and the last 2 salary payments have a long reference number with the letters fp at the beginning, does it sound like my employer is now paying through the faster payments method rather than bacs ? Although it still says bac in another column. All payments before did not have this ref number. Am hoping it will show Monday morning!

If there is a FP reference then that would imply payment via faster payment instead of BACS.

Could you see the payments on the weekend before when the credit was made by BACS?

Thanks for your replies. Previously I could see bacs payments on a Saturday yes but with Monday's date ( really hope this is making sense) this is the first month in ages that payday has fallen on a Monday.

If payment is made by BACS, it may depend on when the BACS file is processed by Natwest or how they display their data on online banking. So it could be just a delay there and if you log in say tomorrow evening then it may then be showing. BACS files have to be submitted 2-3 working days in advance but when exactly the receiving bank processes the payments they receive I imagine might vary.

Or maybe your employer is going to make make payments by faster payments sometime over this weekend or even first thing on Monday. If they haven't done it yet, then it won't show as yet.

Hopefully nothing to worry about anyway....

This coming Monday would normally be a Bank Holiday.

I wonder if their payroll hasn't been adjusted for the fact that this years Spring Bank Holiday is now a week later, and your money will arrive Tuesday instead?
  • I have the same problem, my dd went out my child benefit came in but hubbys salary didnt so currently overdrawn. I had to borrow money and get my dad to pay my shopping on his credit card. I was told by natwest there is an error with their bacs and standing orders and will be resolved at any moment so they say. This has inconvenienced me big time this has happened before, duplicate payments, no money in. Not happy will be complaining.

As well as "complaining", you need to think about moving your outgoing DDs back a few days to allow for such things.

Never a good idea to have DDs leaving on payday.
