So I am ! I might have a bet......not that I really know how to do it. I am feeling lucky now as managed to lotion the ear without any damage to myself.

I don't think you'll win to be honest (the race I mean, not with the cat :D) but I've had a small each way bet on you as I'd be gutted if you did win and I hadn't had anything on :rotfl::rotfl:

Glad you got her sorted and she's still speaking to you :)

Not quite sure how I feel about this. I mean, you wouldn't find a wild cat wearing sun lotion, would you?

My Sebastian in a completely white cat but he seems to be spending most his time in the shade when he's outside and he doesn't look red/pink/hot at all so I think for now I will leave him be, rather than risk putting lotion on him.

Of course, that's your choice and I respect that.

But did you see the link I posted earlier?
    http://www.fabcats.org/owners/cancer/squamous.html

Wild cats may not wear sun lotion, but they also don't live as long as domesticated ones as they are not given the additional protection that humans give. So they still catch diseases, but are not treated (or, better still, prevented) in the same way that we do for our feline friends.

Wild cats aren't vaccinated, neutered, fed two meals a day from a tin/pouch/bag, given treats, given toys, taken to the vet when they're ill.... doesn't mean I don't do all that for my cats.

Oh I totally agree! I guess its like saying that when we were cave men we never wore sun cream but we probably died at 20 years old!

I'm just a bit concerned about the cream causing a reaction, or the cat licking it and being sick. At the moment my three seem to be sleeping in the cool house during the hottest part of the day and sitting in the shade when they're out.

But I know I should be concerned especially as I have an all white cat, so I might see what my vet thinks :)

Good plan. I can empathise with your thoughts. ;)
