Quick commuter car

Looking into buying a car for work now as my business is expanding and looking into starting doing deliveries within London and surrounding areas.

I need something that is quite quick, ideally exempt from the congestion charge and a generous boot space. Also needs to be able to pull a trailer.

Not bother about transmission, fuel type or type of car. Just some reliable and that meets the requirements above

Thank you.

  • Meant to say I have a generous budget- up to 14k but ideally want to spend less and looking to buy second hand.

    Toyota Prius?
Note that not all are exempt from the congestion charge. I believe it must be a 2009 model or later to still be exempt. Good car, cheap to run with plenty of room, especially if you fold the back seats down. Not sure how they do with towing though.

Quick and exempt from the congestion charge- surely an oxymoron.

I believe the new Hyundai 130i eco model will fit the bill.

Are LPG powered cars exempt from the congestion charge? If so that would give you a large choice. Might be worth looking into.

Do you want a QUICK car or a COMMUTER car? Who logically would build a car that does both properly? Nobody to sell to, nobody will buy it.

What would be the point, it's like saying "I want a modern house with a thatched roof and a well."

You can't have both in the real world. LPG cars are "turd" and more trouble than they are worth in real life experience, you need to do a "hellava" lot of miles to warrant an LPG. The best you'll get is some diesel apparatus that is quick but still retains the diesel properties of being woefully underwhelming to actually drive.

Last time I looked yes, but only cars on a fairly extensive list, so buying a car on said list is a good call.

Also why on earth do you want a quick car in London? No one goes above 5mph...
