Tom tom 300 map fault

I've got a tomtom go 300, just lately the screen map "locks up" , the voice instructions still follow the chosen route but the mapping is frozen :mad: , it seems that it ALWAYS does this on the M62 on the way home and peculiarly at EXACTLY 54.5 miles from home on every occasion, I am using the updated app 6.52 downloaded directly from tomtom, contacted tomtom support and they cant resolve it!
ANY ideas to sort this out please - BTW I've already tried reset

Does it happen on other routes or is it just that one point?

i.e., if you drove 54.5 miles in the other direction would it still lock up?

Dont know on that one, will be using that route tomorrow, but wont be home until wednesday, so will post when i get back, sometimes if i turn it off and take out the sd card and clean the contacts and then put it back in and turn on again it starts ok, could it be the sd card is corrupted? I can always get a new one for less than a tenner - but then i would need to load the card with the app, voices and maps but without buying any new ones, but i dont know how to do this, surely tomtom support must have come across this prob before, they didnt offer any advice at all - what kind of service is that, thanks for your help will post here asap Thanks Steve

is it to do with the distance (54.5 miles) or the geographical location you're in where it happens?

i.e. say you make a slight detour at the start to make the route a mile longer, would it happen at 55.5 miles (same geographical location) or 54.5 miles (same elapsed distance)?


(I don't really have a suggestion either way, but was just curious...)

Have you set the safety feature to turn map display above a certain speed off? (I.e. does the display simply show blue and some sort of arrow.)

Also have you set it to display lots of POI's? This can cause the map animation to slow down.

The screen only locks up when I am going eastbound on the M62 at 54.5 miles but not westbound at the same distance -this only happens on my way home and not from any other location, the next time I use it I usually have to take out the sd card and clean the terminals before it will function again

Problem solved - it was a corrupt SD card , TOMTOM sent me a new one free, even thought it was out of warranty - but it was 2 years not 1
