Need help with tax credits form

Hi everyone I would really appreciate some help here , I was claiming CTC before and then received a letter stating Im no longer entitled based on my last year's earning, now from 2011 - 2012 me and my partner our combined earning was around £27k but I'm no longer working which means for 2012 -2013 its £18k earning only. we have a baby so I'm a stay home mum , I called HMRC and they advised me to make a new claim, now I know that if our income is more than £26k we will not be entitled for any benefits and its only my partner who is working now so while filling the form should i just give only his income figures or both reason I'm asking this is because if I send the form they might reject it saying I'm not qualified which I am indeed so don't know how to start thanks everyone

you need to fill it in with both your details, then they will come back with a zero award and then you contact them and advise you do not want it calculated on last years, you would like to use an estimate for this year instead and have it based on that.
You need to be aware that the disregard does not apply to estimates so if there is any chance that there will be any additional income this year then include that in (overtime, bonus etc) If at the end of the year the amount of income is more than your estimate there will be an overpayment to pay back. Better to be slightly underpaid and have them owe you than overpaid.
re last years income - does the £27k include deducting £100 per week from your maternity pay?0 -

Thank you so much for your reply everything seems pretty clear to me now and yes the £27k was including my SMP0 -
if it included your smp then you need to £3900(the first 100 quid for 39 weeks.) this will take you under the £26000, but still ask them to work out the new award based on your new much lower income.0

Hi Carebear thanks for your reply to be honest I don't know anything about the SMP deduction from the total annual income first time I heard this the £27k is including my partner's £19k and £8k my income which is mostly the SMP and my holiday pays so could you kindly please elaborate this for me how does it work thanks again0 -
basically you take off £100 a week for each week that you recieve smp or occupational mat pay,
if you use me as an example- my baby was born 11th march, and my mat pay started end of feb, so on my renewal my gross income is 8608, but i deduct £600 for 6 weeks of mat pay for 2011/12.
the rest of my mat leave/pay will go on my estimate for 2012/13 again with the first £100 of each week deducted. anything else such as holiday pay you need to fully include.
as you know that you are not returning to work, when you do your renewal tell them that and ask them to renew your claim on just your partners income.
i know a lot of people have major problems with hmrc but i have always found that they have been helpful when trying to work out income(my hubby has 2 jobs, 1 paye and 1 self employed- nightmare), and then trying to sort out mat pay deductions too. most difficult when you have a very pregnant brain and 3 other kids to attend to, and dealing with awful morning sickness. lol.0
