Sky talk Charges ..Others like us ?

 Just emailed Sky after going all around the houses on "my Sky" about charges and blocking calls to mobiles ..Kids, no mater how many times you tell them....you can find no help on the sky site so... Email as follows......

I Have been with sky for a long time now.........but due to sky's inflexibility and unwillingness to help its customers, and move on technically to lower our bills I will be leaving sky ( sky Talk at least).

1) The charges for NGN numbers as you call them, are unacceptable as the government offices put you on hold automatically ,and even then sometimes I have to give up waiting, because of cost. This phone line is not a mobile so why penalise me for having to phone the tax office or social ,job centre etc..just because I have a sky talk line.

2)... Sky WILL NOT give the ability to stop outgoing calls to mobiles etc...YOU could ,and you do have the technology ..But it suits Sky because it earns you money. Provide a code system to allow blocking of certain telephone prefixes.

Well you have lost me, after all these15 + years, and although a small a/c , I will blog and forum my feelings and encourage others to do the same.

ITS time to stop making excuses and sort this out , lines like "we are looking into this ,but at this time .."etc.. People are not stupid so stop treating them as such.
In the present financial climate, SKY must be mad for not being seen to lead the market in helping customers , rather than to be left behind in the market.
Be seen to be the good guys , You can always then be on the morel high ground.

Gave them my phone number and asked for a English as a first language service agent to reply , will follow up when/if I get an answer. Anyone else had any success with pushing this problem ?? Kim

We are currently handling a high volume of email correspondence. We will do all we can to answer your enquiry within 10 working days.

To resolve a complaint with a company we recommend that you follow its Complaints Code of Practice. If you ask, it will supply you with a copy of its up to date version. This information is also usually on its website.

We can only help if you have raised a formal complaint with a participating company and completed its complaints procedure. If you have not done this, we will refer you back to the company to do so.

If you have an on-going case with us, we will send your email to the person dealing with your case.
    Here we go then...

Have you looked at call checker for cheaper alternatives you can use with sky line http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/ukcallchecker/0845/daytime/sky/easy

    Or checked www.saynoto0870.com.for alternative numbers.

There is a thread about barring outgoing calls to mobiles on there help forum here

Sky's NGN charges are, broadly, identical to or lower than other providers so it's not them you need to complain to about item 1.

Complain to your MP about any government department or part of the NHS (incl. GPs) using 084 or 087 numbers.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Thanks guys for your comments, I have checked the forums before and I have only recently bought a set of Gigaset dect phones . Typical that you read about another brand of phones having a block outgoing feature, after spending £80 in the last month!

Link 1) This I found useful http://www.digitalhomenetworks.com/payment-centre/block-outgoing-calls-on-sky-telephone-lines/ it explains how and what works ,great if you want a new phone set

    Link 2)

    Hi tony76,

It is not currently possible for us to place a block on outgoing calls to mobile numbers as a calling feature on your line, we are currently investigating this as a calling feature to be added in the future.

Link 3) MP well he did get me an explanation of overpayment by working tax credits on houses of parliament paper, and get a reduction in time to pay back(you always have to pay back)...So I think I will drop him a line about charges, thanks for that.

Thanks for the links on 3rd party connections I will give that a try next time on Que at the HMCR helpline number :money:

Have settled down a bit now from yesterdays rant :A

    Thanks Kim
