International bank transfer gone wrong

I want to vent my frustration and to ask if any one can help me understand what to do! My husband's family in Chile have sold some land - my husband's share was sent to his UK Santander account by international transfer from his sister account on the 4th of May - and we still haven't seen it! For the first 2 weeks we just kept waiting for it to pop into our account - Santander said it can take time. My sister in law asked her bank in Chile to investigate. They have done a trace and say it was recieved by Banco Santander S.A. London on 9th May. When we showed this to our Santander branch they said it was a different bank, not Santander UK with a different BIC / Swift number. We had given my sister in law the BIC / Swift number for Santander (that they gave us) - but the bank in Chile showed her that when they enter the IBAN number for the account the other BIC number is automatically filled. They are saying it is the receiving bank which must then send it to our account. They have contacted them to ask why the money hasn't been sent on - but have had no reply (2 days). Our branch say they can do nothing - they can't 'see the money'. What can we do?! Surely if the trace shows Santander have the money they should do something! Does anyone have any advice?
