Quentin told you not to get your hopes up that they won't verify etc.
In other words, the fact they're considering settling still means they might check up.0 -

Ok, sorry guys, heads in a right spin today, never been so worried.
All the will theys, won't theys isn't really doing me much good. I can convince myself one way only to find they go the other, just by chance.
it just makes me so mad that they are cashing in on a whiplash claim and I might have to fund it in full as well as their car and it was their bloody fault. Im not even putting a claim in for anything, grrrrrr0 -
one last thought:
My insurance runs out next week, if they don't void or cancel it by then, am I scot free in regards to having insurance cancelled?0 -

Hi, if they do find out they might pay out for the claim on condition that you pay back the recalculated premiums taking into account the ban that wasn't notified to them.0

No wonder insurance premiums are through the roof, sorry but ive got no sympathy for you, as you have said yourself you knew what you wrote on the forms at the start so you only have yourself to blameIf you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague0

Not unlikely. Extremely unlikely. If discovered, you won't get away with a non-disclosure of a driving ban that easily.
If the policy isn't voided outright, they may require you to contribute the proportion of the costs by which your premium was under-stated.
eg: premium paid: £500
premium which would have been paid if ban had been declared: £2000
difference: £1500
amount of claim: £10,000
You would be asked to pay 1,500/2,000 x 10,000 = £7,500
The financial ombudsman regularly issues case studies regarding it's view of non-disclosure, for example this one: http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/ombudsman-news/48/48.pdfWe need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

Search for the thread where the poster got a bill for £9000 after having insurance cancelled for failing to declare a minor issue.
Being banned isnt exactly minor.

In the event of a claim do insurance compannies always check all your details? I have a motoring offence from 2 years ago and it wasn't on my policy (unknowingly to me due to a mix up with what I put in the comparrison site and what info was transferred to the insurer which I know I should have checked) and now I think Im gonna get shafted for a 50 / 50 liability claim as he has put a 3k whiplash claim + solicitors fees in on top of his car repair which I don't even know yet (my insurance told me today!!!). The thing that really kills me is it was totally his fault but there were no witnesses, he cut me up on a roundabout.
In your experience do insurance companies always request copies of your counterpart in the event of a claim and have they the power to look it up for themselves.
Has anyone in this situation been lucky / unlucky????
Well I got a fixed penality speeding ticket for doing 38 miles in a 30 mile limit. I told the Insurance company and affected my insurance by an additional £12.00 per year for the next 5 years.
If you do not declare yours and you have an accident and they want to see a copy of your driving license then you would be in deep trouble.
You would then no doubt have to pay all costs yourself.
One other thing Insurance Companies do exchange information and some even use lie detectors when you call them!0
