Ideas for a holiday, travelling by rail ?

Hi, I normally go to St Ives as I hate Blackpool/Brighton/Paignton types of places.

St Ives has the perfect location, shops, beaches, and most importantly allows us to get around by rail.

Are there any similar locations either in Scotland or on the South coast.

I particularly fancy Scotland, but am open to suggestions for stations with at least an hourly service.

All replies will be thanked:-)

Do you use the rail system as a means of getting from A 2 B or do you like to use the rail because you like the rail? if its the latter there are some stunning areas around uk with great rail journeys in itself- Settle to Carlise/ welsh highland/scottish highland/ carlise to Lancaster is stunning to barrow./Ffestiniogg line.Esk line. Hadrians wall . Cumbrian line /cambrian line around somerset area.

I second Cromer & Sheringham or the whole of this area. Also if you are going around by train dont forget to research the various rover tickets available. For Cromer/Sheringham its an Anglia Rover. You can buy a dailt or weekly ticket. This also covers Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft etc. Check out the Rover/Ranger section on National Rail's website.
    Back on the trains again!
