Ideas for a holiday, travelling by rail ?

Hi, I normally go to St Ives as I hate Blackpool/Brighton/Paignton types of places.
St Ives has the perfect location, shops, beaches, and most importantly allows us to get around by rail.
Are there any similar locations either in Scotland or on the South coast.
I particularly fancy Scotland, but am open to suggestions for stations with at least an hourly service.
All replies will be thanked:-)

how about cromer or sheringham0 -
I second Cromer & Sheringham or the whole of this area. Also if you are going around by train dont forget to research the various rover tickets available. For Cromer/Sheringham its an Anglia Rover. You can buy a dailt or weekly ticket. This also covers Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft etc. Check out the Rover/Ranger section on National Rail's website.Back on the trains again!0
