Car Insurance - Early?

Morning all,
My car insurance is due for renewal in May, BUT I'm going to be away from April to June time.
Just wondered if anyone knew if I can order my car insurance early and get the forms sent out to me so I can sign them before I go away. But obviously I do not want the policy to start until my current one expires.
