where to start??

Firstly, i'm sorry if this isnt the right forum/thread.:o:cool2:

Right here goes - I'm turning 40 this year and i'm trying to get my act together in terms of banking etc. I have overdrafts/credit cards/loans but no arrears etc. I normally have a credit cards for 1 year and its paid off. I'm trying to get on the property ladder (bit late i know) but i'm trying to do the best for my family. We currently rent (social landlord) at the moment and we budget every month as well as sorting the bank accounts out. We have slimmed back where we can but i have several life policies that i'm frightened to cancel/move. Ideally i need to see an advisor to go through the policies/bank books but i'm having a steer clear of the banks as they only ever want to sell you their products. Getting the deposit for a mortgage is difficult and the homebuy schemes are not in the area's for my child's school.

Can anyone advise the best avenue to go down as an initial starting point as i dont think Martin would have the time to spend with me ;)

Thank you all for your help - hope your all enjoying the sunshine!!:T

Why don't you list everything you have at the moment? Including any debts, life policies etc. and your retirement provision.

It would also be a good idea to know what income you are on (for mortgage purposes) and what price of a property you are looking at.
