Halifax Car Insurance Cancellation

Hi there,
Unfortunately I was unable to make payment for my car insurance policy, and a gap as little as 3-4 days, has meant they cannot reinstate the policy, and I apparently owe them £1300, because a claim is still open and has been settled as 'at fault.' I made the claim, when I crashed, and payed full excess of £700, when the work only cost £1100. Halifax say I cannot have any car insurance with them anymore, and still owe them £1300, for *no car insurance*.
Do I have a leg to stand on with anything? Or am I screwed?

As it stands you are.
Do some pleading with them to have you back and reinstate the policy, as otherwise apart from the costs you now face you do now face more problems getting insured in fiture with a cancelled policy to declare.
(You could see how much it will be to cancel if you reimburse them all their costs from your claim, though if a third party's costs are also involved this sounds a none starter)0 -
When you say 3-4 days, do you mean 3 to 4 days after the period they can reinstate (which is typically 14-30 days) or do you mean 3 to 4 days after the direct debit bounced?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). It saddens me to say, 3-4 days after the policy was cancelled. Clients late payments have now cost me £1500 inc bank fees.0
