Burglary & Protecting your stuff

Hi all, I have just been burgled, Police were as helpful as usual NOT! :(

One thing they did tell me which I had not heard before was the web site immobilise.com
You register for free and list all your goods and any serial numbers, etc. all for free.
The Police, auctioneers, etc can then check for any stolen goods against the list.
Apparently the Police have warehouses full of stolen property that they have recovered but cannot find the owners of, at great expense to us tax payers.
The site also sells stickers, UV markers, smart water, etc at very reasonable prices.
I thought this worthy of passing on, apologies if it was just me in ignorance of it, also this seemed the most appropriate forum.

  • Bad luck Mr Bear. Not a very nice experience is it.

Bet you'll be in the market for an alarm system now...

Bad luck... at least they didn't get your computer.

I wonder if people really want to recover stuff though after some low life has chucked it over the garden fence. Better to get a nice new whatever from your insurance?

Sorry to hear this however i find it ironic that you say the police werent helpful yet you posted on here to give advice of a site they recommended . Anyhow on the point you made of the police having lots of items that cant be returned, some eventually do get auctioned off. It is called bumble auctions, which you can find on your browser if people have a mind for that sort of thing. But as previous poster mentioned would you really want some things that have been handled by these miscreants. Ive seen some tools on there before that i thought about as replacing stolen tools gets quite pricey.
