Hi
Is there any way of knowing how much insurance cover will go up if I change my car and the insurance group goes from a 5 to a 7/8 - I imagine not, but thought I'd ask
Cheers

Most insurers have their own groupings and dont use the ABI groups.
The easiest way is to talk to your insurers and ask them to give you an estimate - given you dont have a reg plate number they shouldnt make the mistake of actually making the change but do make sure you say it is just to check what the MTA would be and not that you actually want to make it now0 -
Thanks, so I know what I'm talking about when I'm saying it, what is an MTA?Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End

Check with your insurer - not just to get an idea of the price for the remainder of your policy, but to be as sure as you can that they will cover the new car if/when you buy it. (They might have changed their view by the time you do want to change!)
Then if they don't like it you will know to factor in the cost of cancelling/losing a year's ncd/getting new policy, or timing the change to coincide with the policy ending.0 -

I would check before you buy as with car insurance a jump of even one or two bands can make a big difference. In some cases as much as a couple of hundred pounds.
Call your insurance company or if your policy is just about to expire try a couple of comparison sitesHappiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0
