Friday 25th May - What small DFW things will you do today??

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. :money:

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!
:T

Morning everyone. Looks like another hot day in store.

Well, I've done something not very DFW at all. Last night I booked a holiday for the boys and me. 9 days in Spain at the end of August. I nearly gave up as the website crashed three times after taking all the details, but finally got it sorted at the 4th attempt.

So it's now even more important that I do those little things to save money between now and then.

Day off today, as middle son has an appointment at the children's centre for his autism. It's at 1130 so it wasnt really worth trying to go to work either side.

Need to replace one of my tyres ready for the car's MOT next week. There's a discount tyre place only a short drive away, so I'll go there. Not intending to spend anything else today except on the tyre.

Today I have/will
Washing drying on the line
Check banking
Shower using toiletries from recent hotel stays
Dinner and tea from stores; in fact that's just reminded me to get some mince out of the freezer for tea for a spag bol
Take advantage of the sunny weather to wash and hoover the car, and do weeding in the garden
Go for a run
Post some cards, and forms for the solicitor

Think that's about it. Have a great day everyone

Yippee, it's Friday and now that I do a three day week, it's a Stitching Witch day with two corsets to get in the post tomorrow and another three to draft patterns for. And the girls at work think I have two days off........ :rotfl:

    • washing overnight on Economy 7
    • hung washing outside in the free sunshine
    • bread dough rising in airing cupboard

    I will also:
    • get into sewing room all day
    • make lunch with MH bread and fresh eggies
    • look for receipt for a training course to claim back through the business accounts
    • keep an eye on surveys throughout the day

I think that'll do for me today. I might even get chance to update my 101 things list this evening as I know I've achieved stuff since I last logged on.

Petrol filled up on car (since when did my car take £65 to fill up ) Looked around for cheapest place to buy petrol though :D
Filled in my tax relief forms ready to be sent today (hopefully around £500 coming my way? fingers crossed)
Realised that i didn't owe £4900 on NW cc but only £4300 :j

Just used £100 of our savings (£1400 left in savings :() to pay off a little bit of my Next account with the DD due out 5/6 of £28 this will bring the balance under £200 :j:j

With the interest rates on savings being so appalling, wouldn't it be an idea to use £200 of your savings to pay off the next account completely? I'd rather lose 29.9% interest on £200 than to earn around 3% on the same amount. You could then "pay back" your savings with the money you would have been paying the card with. Just something to think about ;)

I think the same thing, however dearest hubby likes to see that we have a bit put aside for a rainy day (hello?!) i would much rather use all of it to clear a bit on the debts but alas...
