Longhaul to OZ/NZ with small kids - urgent advice?

Has anyone travelled to Australia or New Zealand recently with young kids that can advise me on their experience.

I am looking to book immediately for Dec to NZ direct with a 2 year old and a 4year old. they have only done short European flights max 2 hours long in the past. I have done long haul and i know how draining it can be.

Singapore Airlines has been recommended to be very child friendly.....can anyone recommend any other good airlines or routes that they have experienced?
anyone have any experience with Etihad or Emirates or Air New Zealand??

Singapore or NZ air is my recomendation. Whilst I dont have kids when I used both these on the way to from NZ they both seemed to treat the kids on the flight very well and to their every whim too

I second Singapore and Air New Zealand, both fantastic airlines.

I did a round the world ticket with our son aged 3 involving some hefty flights in and out of the southern hemisphere and both airlines were fantastic.

We just did another when he was aged 5 with the Star Alliance group of airlines and whilst ok it was not a patch on the previous flights.

I would suggest a stopover in Singapore to break up the flight, a few days by a pool, recharge and on to the next flight.
