Help, About To Get Sacked For Reading Managers Emails

My managers have came to me and said that someone has been reading my line managers emails on the pc that I use, which I haven't.
In order to log onto the pc's at work you need a unique password and anyone could log onto any pc.
They have said that someone logs on as my line manager, reads his emails and then logs off and the next person to be logged on is me. When I come into work in the morning you can see that last person to be logged on and it always has been me as it is normally only me that uses that particular pc.
It is obvious that someone is logging on as my manager and then also knows my password and logs on as me, clearing themselves from any wrong doing.
Can they sack me for this - it couldve been anyone.

Hi
I am sure that the company have an IT dept (or individual) who will be able to do an audit trail of access. This will show times and dates of activity. This will be essential evidence for any investigation.
They will have to prove that access was by you. As you have mentioned, access has already been done when you get to work.
I would start by changing your password, or finding out who has access to your password.
I would get in touch with TU if you have any.
There was a similar thread a few weeks ago and this has been successfully resolved.

but it looks bad that I am logged on immediately after my manager is logged off. Do they need physical evidence (i.e. someone saying they have seen me log on his him) or can they sack me as I am the next one logged on and that is the only proof they have.0

did you log an as you when you got in to this office or were you allready logged on . If you were allready logged on then did this not create suspicion. If you were not logged on then the IT dept will be able to recover the time between both log ons hopefully putting you away from machine.
The glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D0 -

Your login being used isn't proof that it was you logging in, any more than your manager's login being used is proof that it was your manager...
If manager login then your login happens on same PC - and at this point I bet the most likely explanation is a cockup by someone in IT and this isn't actually the case - that isn't proof that it's you. Or proof that it was your manager.0 -
when I leave my pc at night I lock it so when I have been coming into work in the morning it is still locked so i haven't had any need to be suspicious.
the time between my manager being logged off and me being logged on is seconds. my manager doesnt come into work till 2 hours later proving it wasn't him and the i.t. department isn't in when it is happening either.0 -
Have to say that im suprised the manager isnt in trouble for not having a better password.0

My husband (who is in IT Support for a company) dealt with this a few weeks ago.
It looked like HIS boss P, had been accessing the mailboxes of junior colleagues A and J. Dh admitted this did look to be the case however when he delved into it, it turned out P had sent diary entries to A and J, which had opened their mailboxes...
Or something (he's the technical one and I'm not). Is it possible it could be something like this?Start Date: 27/11/2010
Padding: Day 42
Target £8000
Amount: £562.230
