Lloyds TSB

Hi, I've never posted before but had to tell someone about the bad experience my girlfriend has just had with Lloyds TSB. She moved a few months ago and didn't change her address with Lloyds. She had an old account which was £500 overdrawn and, as she never used it any more, she completely forgot about it. She got her mail from the old house the other day along with the obvious threatening letters. She rang them immediately, full of apologies, explained the situation and said she could pay off £100 a month. The man on the end of the phone called her a liar, asked her what made her think she could run away from her debts and refused to take the £100 saying it was too late and if she didn't pay it off in full she would never be able to get a mortgage or credit ever again. I know she was in the wrong but I always thought a creditor could not refuse a sensible offer to clear debt. Sorry about the long post but I really think this sort of bullying is disgusting

hi, that is terrible isnt it?my boyfriend had the same situation and the same response as your girlfriend had, did she get his name, if so ring back upi and ask to speak to the manager/supervisor, and report him.
they will take a reasnable offer and i would say the offer she made was very reasnable.

A few years ago a friend of my dad's went out of business, started a new job but owed the tax office some money, not sure how much. Anyway, he offered the tax office £5 per week to start with then said he would pay more when his wages went up in a few months. They said no and took him to court. The judge said as he had made an offer and the tax office was refusing it, they obviously didn't want the money, and the judge wrote off the debt.
I also had problems with Lloyd's a few years ago, they changed our OD from £1500 to £500 and told us we had 10 days to get in this limit. We said it was impossible, so they gave us a credit card and told us to transfer £1000 into our account, then pay off the card monthly. We were panicking at the time, hubby had lost his job, started a new one but the wages were rubbish for the first 3 months. This was the beginning of a downward spiral of debt. I think Lloyd's give really bad advice and would not go near them again.Bulletproof0 -
Although I receive the moneysaving e-mails I have never logged onto the chat forum before.
I've just has a bad experience with Lloyds TSB and wanted to see whether anyone else had had similar problems.
I applied for a graduate account last Autumn as I was impressed by the £2000 interest free overdraft in year one, £1500 interest free in year two and £1000 interest free in year three. The account was opened and each month my statement says overdraft limit £2000 to be reviewed December 2004. I have been therefore budgeting with the aim of reducing my overdraft before December 2004.
I have just had a bank statement showing interest charged because I exceeded the limit. Knowing I hadn't gone over the £2000) I rang up to be told that the limit has been reduced to £1500 because July is the end of year one - i.e. one year after my course ended. So in fact unless you take out the account the minute you finish the course, you do not benefit from a full year at £2000 interest free. When I queried the note on the statement about a review in December I was told that my limit is still £2000 until December but only £1500 in now interest free.
So after switching from another bank I didn't even get a full year of £2000 interest free and all of a sudden without warning I have to get my overdraft down by £500 to avoid charges. I really feel that I have been misled.

Hmm howabout 18months for one address change, and thats including filling in the correct forms 4 times, 18 months for them to sort out internet banking including promising to send something by recorded delivery and not doing so and getting the address wrong again though just the post code this time. phone customer services they try and fob me off and promise a call in 24 hrs dont even record it with anyone (think manned in india over the weekends ) then get really helpful people who get a very very stormy red head yelling at them, now get everything in writing if they pass it on to a different department as then at least i know someone has done something. Am changing my bank as soon as they have sorted out all this mess though amtemptedto just leave £1 in the account just to keep their paperwork churning over0 -
Now l don't want to sound too harsh here but.....At the end of the day your gf should of kept on top of her debts - and certainly updated her new address with the bank - the charges she incurrs now because she didn't will probably be more than the £500 at the start. Hopefully this will never happen again, it's just shame it took all these charges to achieve this.
The bank should have been a little more accepting of the offer though, maybe the guy you spoke to had a bad day, l would call back, talk to someone else and see what happens there.
In the meantime you should check her credit file for any damage, if there is none yet, take out any credit you might need now - like new cards, HP, loan, etc now before it gets updated.
Act fast, the charges mount up quick.Sense is not common.0
