Thanks everyone.
We don't have a budget as such. My parents are paying for our wedding and they have told us to find a venue we love as they don't want us to regard a place we may love because of the price.
We have a rough guest list and very surprised to find its actually only about 75 people, so even if we have missed a few people it won't reach the 100 plus we were expecting.
I know we want to spend the money on the venue and food and then things like invites we will make ourselves and we don't want favours. So we have a rough idea I guess.
Guess you will start seeing me a lot on here.
Thanks again everyone.0 -

Congrats xThrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Congratulations!
I'm an old married now but still lurk occasionally!
As your parents will be contributing to your day, avoid arguments now by asking them what they expect in terms of planning the day - do they want a certain band/flower type/cake/bridesmaid (ok I exaggerate!) and are they expecting a certain number of spaces for their friends.
Also discuss with your OH now what is important to you and to him for the wedding so that you know what to compromise on later.
Remember it's the marriage that counts and not the wedding day and you will be fine. Enjoy wedding planning as it is meant to be fun!0 -
Congratulations! You must be so happy together & know each other so well so your wedding is going to be great!
My tips: Don't read many Bridal Mags!! They are full of really expensive nonsense in my view
Don't feel you have to have certain things/traditions on your marriage day just because "everyone does" just have what you like (unless someone else is paying in which case you have to compromise)
edit: just seen your parents are paying so maybe talk to them as to how they see your wedding day and come to a midway point if it's much different to your taste.0 -
Congrats
enjoy every minute.. it will come around very fast... Mine is! And I agree with discussing with your parents anythings that they are requesting. Get it out of the way before it comes up just months before the wedding when you really don't need it stressing you out!
Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0
