Car insurance cancellation nightmare...

sounds like something else for the FOS to have a look at.
Witholding NCB proof because of disputed outstanding monies doesn't seem fair to me.0 -
Can insurers withhold infomation with reguards to NCB? They're preventing me taking out insurance elsewhere untill i pay them £217? Doesnt sound right to me
Yes, they can and do.
But....they maybe being unhelpful but aren't "preventing" you taking out insurance elsewhere!
You will need to explain the situation regarding proving your NCD to your chosen insurer, and come to an agreement over how they will allow you your NCD (maybe that they will backdate a premium adjustment when you resolve your dispite)0 -
Just as a follow up, Ive spoken to Coverbox, They asked for proof on insurance with Churchill, which ive emailed to them. Rung them today and they say theyre going to recaluclate my cancellation fee based on when my Churchhill policy started. They say I did not make it clear i wanted my policy to end, which i believe i did. Im also adamant i was told i would be making one last final payment. Which turned out to not be the case. Ive asked for a transcript from Coverbox of the phonecall I made, Which they're going to email to me.
In the meantime ive got a letter from churchill asking for proof of no claims, which Coverbox are withholding untill i pay up, But i blieve i was misled and shouldnt pay them a penny. Churchill are going to add over £300 to my premium if they dont receive proof within a week.0 -
Include a claim for the £300 when you complain about the withholding of the ncd to the FSO. Advise coverbox you will be doing so.0

Well I actually found a letter from Coverbox i didnt know i had which states i have two years no claims with them, which I sent First Class Recorded on friday to Churchhill. But I recieved a letter yesterday morning from them saying theyre going to be adding £350 onto my premium. I rung them when i found the letter on friday, told them i would be sending it that day, which I did. The advisor on the phone said this would be ok, and yet i still recieved a bigger premium?!
Coverbox told me they would email me a transcript of the phonecall, which they havnt done yet so im going to have to ring them back also, Its been a week since they said they would.0 -
Im getting nowhere with Coverbox so I decided to take abit of a harsher line with these guys. Just been on the phone for an hour (most of which i was on hold for) to one of there advisors. I asked to speak to a manager about 5 times, each time she put me on hold and told me the manager would not take my phonecall. I asked her to confirm for me, the manager is refusing to take my call, She said yes. I told her Churchill are going to cancel my insurance shortly if i dont pass over to them Proof of No Claims. Without insurance I cannot use my car to get to work, and therefore we're looking at loss of earnings, So I advise Coverbox to send me proof of no claims asap or it will get very costly for them.
I asked for a phone number for the complaints department. She told me they dont have a phone number and there is noone i can speak to. I explained there is no reason why i cannot speak to someone. Half way through a sentence she told me her manager had just given her a phone number for the complaints department. I ring this number and geuss what...The number is out of service.
This is AWFUL customer service in my books. She fobbed me off with a incorrect number and refused to get a manager to take my call.
I called back, spoke to a much more helpful advisor and ive got somone from the complaints department ringing me this afternoon.
Considering I was told here was NOONE i could speak to, ill take that.
A little persistence goes a long way!0
