Re-laying a patio

Hi

Does anyone know how easy it is to re-lay a patio for a complete novice!! I don't really have th cash to pay someone and would love to try it myself.

The flags there now are about a foot square and quite loose now and I am sure I'll be able to give it a good go and hopefully not make too much of a mess if its not too hard to do!!

Thank you for any replies and help :j

First question , how many slabs, 2nd , how fit are you .

Problem is that the videos always make it look easy . But getting them 'level' but with a 'fall' is not easy. Old way was 5 mounds of mortar than a tap with a rubber mallet. If you were laying a lot of slabs , you needed a mixer ( or muscles)

I worked it out that the cost of hiring a mixer made an alternative cost efficient .

    so I use

    http://search.wickes.co.uk/search#ts=ajax&method=and&w=slab&isort=score slab mate

You just spread straight from the bag dry. Then spend as long as you like getting it 'flat' When happy , using a watering can with a rose , wet. Place slab on top ............ job done.
