Goto https://www.crocus.co.uk and use their online 'right plant, right place' system. The RHS also have an online plant selector, where you specify the conditions0

Hosta grow very well in the shade, I've just bought a few from ebay to start me off, you can get some striking colours.

My shaded bit behind the shed left to its own devices brings up dock leaves, moss, and more interesting stuff like foxgloves, wolfsbane, and now some form of periwinkles. Lots of other stuff too. I quite like my wild flower patch!0
