Barclaycard rejection, grr.

I'm not bitter, just having a moan. Moaning won't get me a credit card (which I don't need - got one elsewhere anyway), but I'm gonna moan anyway :)

3 weeks ago I applied for a Barclaycard. I'm a low earner but have a decent credit history, in that I usually get what I apply for, and always pay it back. I've had - and have - credit cards in the past, my current debt/salary ratio is very close to 0%. I have never missed a payment on anything in my life, and my credit files reflect this.

So, because I'm a low earner, I only applied for the Barclaycard Initial card.

I don't need the card as such, but I have some home improvements on the horizon. The 'worst' offer Barclaycard have out at the moment is 0% purchases for 3 months. The best they have is 22-mth 0% BT (Platinum!). So, this card was to be a stowaway emergency fallback.

Anyway, my online application was referred, and I later received a letter in the post advising me that I'd been provisionally accepted, pending ID (until a few weeks ago, I wasn't on the voters roll - fine - but I've been linked to my current address since birth. I sometimes have to prove this, and sometimes don't).

I sent them a good-quality copy of my valid passport (the letter said don't send original passports or DLs), plus 1 x original utility bill (water, dated April 2012) and 1 x original bank statement (May 2012).

I checked the exact ID requirements on the letter and sent what they asked. I even sent 2 letters when one would have been sufficient.

Today I received a letter telling me that I'd been rejected on this occasion, but to reapply in 6 months (no!). No reason given, and they'd already credit-checked me and provisionally accepted me previously, so my credit "score" can't be the reason.

I'm not fussed that I didn't get it, just a bit annoyed at the rigmarole. If you're going to decline, just do it straight away!

Rant over.

PS: Maybe they didn't like the look of me on my passport :rotfl:

if its any consolation i had the same thing in december, they rejected me after `Id, no reason. I have just reapplied and got the same message so after i called them today, they said they will have an answer after i sent ID again.
IM wondering if i should even bother

I'm not bothering myself in 6 months or whatever. Too much dangling of the carrot from them :)

you could appeal, i had an issue with nationwide and was offered the card, but by that time i had taken a BETTER offer from virgin on 22mBT so advised them to ram it ;-)
