Scam and Cold-Calling alert - we've been with TPS for aaages.
I got a call from this crew this afternoon -'The People's Advice Centre' He knew my name, asked for me - I didn't confirm who I was - then he asked me in a cheery voice how I was. I replied 'Fine thanks, just off for a bike ride' and hing up on him. Have reported them to OFCOM and TPS, and have promised to check MSE to see if others are/ought to be reporting. About time someone at Ofcom, or Southend TS or the TPS (we've been registered about ten years) shut them down, fined them or carried out a dawn raid screaming 'Police!! We've got dogs! Get down on the floor!!!'
I found this link useful - looks like I'm not the only one:
http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/01702356720/3#p398775909188581863
and this one:
http://complaints.tpsonline.org.uk/Consumer/Default.aspx
and this one if you get a silent call from them:
https://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/tell-us/webflow/silent-calls/
Finally, I don't know if this is the same company, but google search reveals:
People's Advice Centre 225-229 Seven Sisters Rd, London N4 2DA 020 7263 1089 . They're not in to take phone calls right now.

I've been cold called by Charlie from them even though we're on the TPS. They have been reported. He claimed they act on behalf of hundreds of companies and that they'd been passed the details from another company.0

and even though you and I can find them, TPS say they are unable to locate the company..... Give me strength!Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

I had a call from this very company today. Only happened to stumble across this thread via a Google search on them. I'm also registered with the TPS.

Just had a call from these people saying I may be due compensation for PPI mis-selling.
A) I'm not
If I were, I know that I can apply for it for free, instead of them taking a huge cut of it.
So I just kept him hanging on with "I'll be with you in just a second" until he gave up
if i had known then what i know now0 -
I'm registered with TPS, but I had a call from 'Charlie' from The People's Advice Centre about an hour ago, and he also gave me the old flannel about 'ticking boxes' when I asked where he got my name and address from. He asked if I'd been sold any PPS in the last 12 years, so I just kept saying no, no, no to everything he asked. I got bored and hung up.
I called 1471 and the number that came up was 01702 356 720 which is a Southend number so presumably that's their call centre, but the company appears to be based in 225-229 Seven Sisters Road in London. As a new user I can't post a link to the Companies House website, but their details are there. Their accounts appear to be overdue for this year too.
I've registered a complaint with TPS, but whether anything will get done, I don't know. I'd like to shoot these people......:mad:0 -

I just a call from these people too, told him where to go!
I have these type of calls nearly every day, and on my mobile too, seriously thinking of changing my phone number, Its really driving me nuts!!0 -
I just reported this company to the TPS. They have been calling me from 01702356766 and refused to take me off their calling list! :mad:0

Don't bother reporting to the TPS. If you know the name of the company, report them to the ICO. They can fine companies, TPS can't.
All I can say it, the profits these shysters make must be very large because I've never heard of one single person who enjoys being spammed in this way. I can't believe it makes much business because people, without exception, seem to hate it. Perhaps all they need is one dozy person to take them up on their 'Our records show you can reclaim £3315 in respect of PPI' nonsense."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
