income support claims how long?

Sent in a Claim for income support and just wanted to know how long they are taking to do them?

sent it in just about 2 weeks ago but not heard anything back yet.

My local office is Chester.

What sort of IS claim was it?

If IS LP and you received your statement to you in the post...... which you have now signed and posted to BC with ID enclosed
It will take up to 14 working days from the date they receive it

You would be wise to phone the BC (tomorrow) to check they received it.

its IS that my wife is claiming as she is a Carer.

they have got it as we sent it signed for and have checked Royal mails website.

what is IS LP?

we was sent a form to fill out for IS and was not done on the phone.

Don't rely on tracking, phone them up tommorrow and check they have received it

Definition of "received" = it has been logged onto their computer and is being worked on

Defintion of "not received" can include it has been delivered and signed for but is now behind the photocopier having dropped down there when a huge bundle of post was last delivered and the top one fell off.

Yes she is has been awarded Carers Allowance.

Well i called them today and for some reason they would only tell us that they got it and that they will call back and tell us.

is that a new thing for them to do that?

there is a 3 hour hour call back so as its after 5pm will be Monday morning now.

Yes that is standard procedure, they can tell you that it is logged as received (if the computer shows that) but as to how much longer it will take or if there is anything delaying it (more information needed) then they will have to call you back within 3 working hours.
