Well who do you think pays for the chip repair if the the customer is paying either a tenner excess or nothing? Of course it's a claim, and of course it's recorded. Sooner or later an insurance company is going to wriggle out of a large payout on the basis that a chip repair claim was not declared. There is no claim to declare - that is stated in T&Cs. It will not be recorded on any shared database.
The way it works is the insurance companies take your money and log exactly what you tell them. Then,,,, they sit on it, even if they know you lied to them regarding losses, claims, points, etc. They are not bothered if you "failed to declare" something as it can be used to invalidate any future claim.Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0
