Paypal £105 limit on claims.

I am considering buying an item for over £200. The seller has 100% feedback but on only 13 items over 3 years. 3 are sales, 10 are purchases. He/she looks like an occasional ebayer and there is nothing obviously suspicious about the account. I do know what to look for.

The seller/item does NOT have the Paypal security logo on the listing.

I know that if I don’t receive the item and submit a claim and win, Paypal will only refund £105 and then chase the seller for the rest. How likely would I be to get more than £105 if it goes wrong?

What normally happens in cases where the purchase price is more than £105?

Does the buyer usually lose out or do PayPal actually chase them and get more if they can?

I would suggest that if you decide to buy you pay using a credit card with Paypal - this way if anything goes wrong you can also try to instigate a chargeback with your credit card company.

    That's ebay's standard protection charge.

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • If you go on the paypal site they have a phone number I recall! I,ve rang it numerous times.I would also check with your credit card company if it would be covered. It can be a big risk if they dont have the paypal security logo.
