Council Tax Benefit

Water and sewerage in Scotland are not covered by CT benefit and need to be paid in full, so you only get benefit for the council tax part of your bill, and there is always a part that needs to be paid, even if you qualify for full CT benefit.

im being a bit presumptuous in thinking you live in scotland ? the water rates were a clue & your signature kinda sealed it

i lived in the highlands for a while & noticed the water rates were on the council tax bill as opposed to england where they are just like gas & elec & billed by separate companies.
i didnt work in ctb back then, in fact had to claim it but dont remember how it worked, as its not part of the council tax as such as mentioned above, id be surprised if that bit didnt stay on the bill regardless of any benefit though.
definitely get in touch with them though, does sound like you're missing out, good luck !
Yes we're in Scotland
I've worked out using my CTB stuff from last year that we got a 25% discount on our water and sewage as we got full CTB. Now I don't think we will get full TCB so will need to see what happens with that. As you said though it looks like we should get something at least. Will be phoning tomorrow when they re open Kyle 03.04.04

my exp is what they give with the one hand ie tax credits they take with the other, check out turn2us which you can do a calculation on and it works out all your benefit entitlement. it is pretty accurate.if only life was a box of chocs0

my partner is on income support for a while now, recently about 18 months ago I got a prt time job. I informed the DWP of it but forgot to inform the housing and council tax benefit thinking they will get in touch with me. After waiting a year and having dealt with some personal issues, I took my recent payslip to the council, now they want to know when I started work, why I informed DWP of it a year ago and not them? Don't know what to do please advise. !!0

The best thing to do is tell the truth and make arrangements to pay back what you may owe with them. I guess it could be called fraud as you are obligated to inform them of changes to your circumstances not them to chase you and anyone else who does the same.
You may still have some level of entitlement depending on your wage so the sooner you get it sorted out the better. HTHKyle 03.04.04
