cheap post for floor standing fan

I took out the old fan again out of the shed, and coudn't find the stand for it. I later found out that someone threw it away because they thought it was redundant.

Nice...

So the fan looks like this, breaks in 2.. the bottom is missing. It costs £20 to replace. But if I can I'd like to replace the bottom somehow for less than £5.

Anyone have suggestions on how I can replace the base with some other replacement. The pole is 1inch 25mm and just slots into the top part.

One possible method would be to buy one of these



and just screw it onto a flat circle woodpiece to create a base.. That would be better actually as it's for a bedroom and I'd like to keep the fan low.

quick update. I didn't have a christmas tree stand to hand, it would have cost me a fair bob to replace. Instead I bought a £1 chopping board from asda, and just glued the fan on with shoe goo.

Now it stands freely no probs
