Hi can anyone help please.
I want to use my Ipad whilst in Turkey to watch BBC iplayer, tvcatchup, ITV player etc. I understand you can't do this unless you get a VPN or something. Is this correct and how do I go about getting one. Many thanks

I have lived abroad for 4 years now and travel often too. I have tried a few VPN's and find free ones have too much advertising and are a pain in the derriere.
I now use Witopia (for 3 years) which I think currently charges $49.99 a year, seems fast enough to use for BBC iPlayer and ITV Player. https://www.witopia.net
TVcatchup seems to detect both VPN's and Proxies so that ain't much good. If you had a Mac Laptop you could avoid using a VPN and just use GetiPlayerAutomator, that is a brilliant programme and records ITV, BBC and BBC Radio.0 -
I travel quite a lot and I have set up VPN on my router (a Draytek). So you may want to see if your router can do it. If not, then you can leave your computer on and use that instead:Have a read here: http://www.pcworld.com/article/210562/how_to_set_up_vpn_in_windows_7.html
You could also use something like SlingBox Solo which is cheap-ish if you have Sky or Tivo and watch recorded programs.0 -

No probs. this recommended by friend who travels extensively. I'm on a campsite in Alsace at present. Free wifi with excellent signal.
No fees, no ads ( apart from what's broadcast with the programme).
All BBC, ITV, & others clear and bright. Streaming high quality.

Rhino App is pretty good for this, I use it for ITV & BBC in Dubai on my iPad quite often. GOOGLE RHINOVPN0

Another alternative if you have a home server/media box or even a raspberry pi lying around is to use Plex with the TVCatchup, iPlayer etc plugins.
A little bit more setup effort, but means you can also access all your own music/films etc too"You did not pull yourself up by your bootstraps. You were lucky enough to come of age at a time when housing was cheap, welfare was generous, and inflation was high enough to wipe out any debts you acquired. I’m pleased for you, but please stop being so unbearably smug about it."0 -
Seeing as the OP asked their question almost 3 years ago and they haven't logged on to MSE since then, I doubt very much if they are still looking for help.0

And they bumped another aged Iplayer thread with much the same thing - Spammer?0
