Back on topic, allowing for slight heating of the transformer, she will need a 2KW transformer (watts in = watts out)
A 2 KW 110V transformer will cost about £90.
Argos will charge from £4 up to £30 for a hair dryer.
As they say on the left side of the pond, go figure:)

Well, at least this is better that the American I had to deal with a few years ago who in all seriousness asked if Scotland (away from the airports) had electricity she could use to power her hairdryer yet and if the English troops that were keeping us wild Highlanders down would know what a hairdryer was and not mistake it for some kind of weapon.
