Slow Filling Cistern - Have Pics

Good_Times
Hi folks,
The cistern in my bathroom takes about 30 mins to fill after a flush. I've heard this can be potentially quite easy to fix, but also potentially quite expensive if pipes need to be cleaned out.
By any chance do any of you any knowledge of how I would go about trying to fix this myself? Pictures of my cistern are below. Any help would be really appreciated, thanks.
EDIT: Just found that I can't post images so here is the link to the images on photobucket:

Do you know if the slow filling is due to low pressure/obstruction in the water pipe or whether its the cistern operation?
What happens when you hold the ball down, does the water gush in or trickle in?0 -
Hi mate, thanks for your reply.
I have mixed feelings right now.. on one hand I feel great because I simply turned the tap going into the cistern and it's working fine now. On the other hand this has been happening for ages and I never even thought to try that!
Ah well, cheers!0 -
Well at least you were honest about yourself. You have the correct attitude. We all have these moments, me more regular being a Senior.
All the best
