Fridge/Freezer occasional loud noise

I have a Blomberg Frost Free fridge/freezer about 7 years old. It freezes and chills perfectly but sometimes makes a loud rythamic noise. The red light comes on but if I just bang the door strongly or turn off for a few minutes it stops and goes back to normal. This can occur once in a week or a couple of times in one day. I dont think there is much wrong at all - maybe something loose that catches? Comet want £125 as a fixed charge which is a lot to me having just retired. I am a confident DIY for most things - anybody know what I could check?

The manual first? What does the red light indicate?

Check model online if you don't still have maybe on ukwhite goods forum

Are you sure it isn't the frost free action on the freezer? Ours makes a noise every so often as the frost free part does its magic
  • Thanks - I will try to download a manual as we somehow lost when moving home. It is strange that there is no obvious model number & serial plate either inside or at the rear.

The noise is really loud, a banging sound really from around the fan area, so certainly not normal. I am thinking that maybe the fan has come loose or its mounting bracket.
