FAO: Someone who banks with HSBC

I paid a cheque in this morning for someone into there HSBC account but they are saying it is not showing on there online banking statement, is this normal? I know with Halifax for example it shows up online as soon as banked so just want to make sure it all went to the right account etc

I've had it take the full 3 day clearing cycle, especially if you used the automated machines as they need to be manually emptied and sent to the cheque clearing centre.0

Just to add,
I to have had the same problem with HSBC a few times with Cheques, all will go through though so dont worry, just for some reason pops up when it clears as opposed to when paid in, have no idea why

Yup, can confirm cheques take a while to clear. Usually around 3 working days.0
