Currys CS

I bought 2 apple imac onn the 5/4/12, delivered soon after. But after over a month i realised there was no iLife software or backup for the OS as in the Currys description "Apple Wireless Keyboard, Apple Magic Mouse, power lead, install/restore DVDs, printed and electronic documentation" so i emailed them 2 days ago and got the std reply suggesting I call them. I did this today and was told there was a mistake in the description and the software comes from apple, I stated I bought the computer from Currys not apple. But there is a post on hotukdeals statiung someone got " I sent my proof of purchase for a refurb 27" iMac and Apple reset the warranty (1 year AppleCare) to the purchase date. I also complained to PCWorld as I did not have iLife included and they refunded me £34.99 which is the current Amazon selling price. The iMac came with Lion installed instead of Snow Leopard but it didn't include any install/restore DVDs as listed here:

Accessories included: Apple Wireless Keyboard, Apple Magic Mouse, power lead, install/restore DVDs, printed and electronic documentation."
So i thought ok fairs fair, where is mine. hence my call to them today, I was polite and couteous and after the lady had said its apple, I said ok I'll have to call back and speak to someone else, her replay was you'll get the same answer, Ii said thats ok I'll call back as I would rather not get upset or upset you thanked her and said bye, I spent close to £2K with them, any suggestions

  • Did you try calling back and getting someone else?

It is up to Currys to ensure that the product matches the description.

Apple are well known for their CS (and curry's are not judging from a number of posts on this board) so it really maybe worth a call to Apple to see if they can help. Whilst this may not be the official route it could be the better option and for the cost of a phone call it could be worth it.

Lion doesn't come as a disc its tied to your Apple ID.

You can restore the system back to factory settings by holding the Alt/Option key down on startup.

If it was Snow Lepoard installed then you would get the supplied media, but Lion has it all built in (even if you replace the hard drive, it still allows you to reinstall by downloading the O/S)

Can you click on the App Store?

and see whats under purchases / updates?

Might be hiding there, if not you can either purchase iLife through the App store or through Amazon with the refund you received.

Sorry wasn't very clear in your OP.

    Give them another call back

or send a Private message to This user, best to do both. (Or send a email to letusknow@knowhow.com)

Just state that you were sold the item on the condition that it had iLife (DVD or digital it doesn't matter) and explain that as part of the contact you want it upheld to either supply the ilife disc, or itunes vouchers to purchase the iLife or a partial refund to purchase the discs from Apple direct.

Like I said, the Lion isn't a issue as thats tied to your Mac and not to discs, one other thing to try is sign into the App Store using your Apple ID (if you have one, otherwise create one) and look in purchased/updates, I don't think it'll work as it's usually listed there regardless of if your logged in or not.
