Fence panels

I need 2 4 foot panels where they blew down recently, but due to age they are now kaput
However they sit inside a concrete holder, basically concrete base, then pillars to sit the panel in. Unfortunately they are not a perfect size, but they were in place before i move in
I am not going to rebuild the holders, but wondered if it would look better to buy some wood and basically build up my own "fence"? that way the ones at the top can be slightly wider than the ones at the bottom and it would look nicer i think
is this a silly idea, or would the cost be ridiculous instead of just buying 2 new panels?

When you say a perfect size, do you mean the posts are leaning? You can get a panel and reduce it in size to fit, or you could widen a panel by screwing on some strips of (treated) wood at the sides. If you mean its more than an inch wider, then your only option probably is to build them yourself. I doubt it'll save you anything, and will involve more effort. All the parts you need will be available at DIY stores.0

SO the posts are slotted, like this:

Easy - done it myself loads times - just buy some regular sized panels - remove end battens from one end - cut down the slats exactly right size (if it takes you longer than 3 minutes you need sharper saw) - nail the battens back on - looks like made to measureWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
suppossed to be but it looks like a U as the posts and base are connected0

What bases? Fence posts are normally set into concrete."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

bad expplanation, basically its shaped like a U, slots either side and the panel then sits on a concrete base0
-
Sits on, or is embedded into, a concrete base??
A slotted post will have slots both sides unless it's an end post.
In that case, you should be able to drop in a replacment panel, though you may need a step ladder and the assistance of another person to achieve this."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
