Quick question: Recorded still useless?

My internet has blown up, so I'm having to check from the library. Whilst doing that, I thought I'd ask here in case someone sees it.

We've just had a buyer pay after raise a non payment dispute. Normally we send the items out with just a proof of posting, but as we're getting wierd vibes from this person as as it's an unusually big amount (in the world of second hand craft sales anyway :) ), we want to cover against an INR claim.

So is Recorded any good? We don't care if we have to claim from Royal Mail, we just want some cover in case the buyer turns out to be bad.

Thanks!

EDIT: £36 of goods, in case that matters.

It doesn't always update if they're even asked to sign for it.
So I would say, still not much good.

Go with your gut feeling, if you think its gonna be problem sent it recorded. It does offer you a bit of protection.

Only if it gets signed for & then updates online. If you think you have a potential problem buyer who you think could claim INR, then recorded could actually help them.
I've never been asked to sign for a recorded delivery package, not even when I had to collect from the delivery office.
  • RD isn't reliable but don't underestimate the impact of a barcode on a parcel.

many companies simply add labels such as "tracked delivery", "confirmed delivery" etc
I assume for the same effect

If its under £46 then your pop will cover you for loss. If you send it recorded and it doesn't update but is delivered then RM won't pay you and PayPal will refund the buyer.

Stick a barcode on the parcel.

Yes. COP / Special Delivery or carrier, depending on weight/value.
Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.

After reading about people on here not signing for recorded, I went through my slips to check if they'd updated on the RM website. There were 50 altogether and of those only 2 hadn't been signed for. 96% success rate sounds pretty good to me. They went to all area of the country. I would say it was worth it for your buyer.

given the rise in PDA use in DOs',I expect it should improve/have improved.
however for various other factors,it may not be the case.

This year so far i've sent 3 items, all standard letters:
One arrived, updated online and was signed for
One arrived, didn't update online, and wasn't signed for
    One got lost all together.
