Romans Originals - Mail order warning

I ordered a £15 cardigan in a Roman Originals sale. I didn't like it, and decided to return it straight away. You can return to a store, but will only get a gift voucher instead of a refund if you do (what a con!) They provide a prepaid returns label, but it's only free if you want an exchange, if you want a refund they will charge you another £3 for the return - on top of the £3.99 already paid for delivery! I rang up to query this, and he confirmed that it would end up costing a total of £6.99 in postage for one £15 cardigan that I wasn't keeping!
When I pointed out that they were legally required to refund my initial delivery charge if I returned the item within 7 days, he agreed, although I had to to put a note on the returns form to this effect or it wouldn't happen.
Finally, I worked out that it was only going to cost £2.20 in postage to return the item second class post - so in the end that is all it has cost me. Even though it's money down the drain because I ended up with nothing, it's better than the £6.99 it could have cost if I hadn't queried things.
Just a warning to be careful not to pay over the odds when returning mail order items!
