So, if they break, what happens?
People need a fridge/freezer and a washing machine is obviously helpful if you want to avoid laundry places.
Most houses will not have enough space for 2 of the above appliances. So the tenant is allowed to replace at their own cost and throw out the broken LL's appliances (after informing them of their brokenness)
I can see a lot of deposit disputes for tenants throwing out landlords 'perfect' washing machine...0 -
The landlord is not required to provide those items. If you prefer, ask the landlord to remove them. One good reason for such a clause is that a fair number of tenants will already have such equipment of their own and won't want to use anything that's already there.0
