Tell her that it would be a waste of resources to fit it into your current property, as you are hoping to move soon, and that you will contact her after you have moved - unless, of course, there is a problem with the portable hoist in terms of safety.

you have an absolute right to refuse any equipment you don't want.

however, if it is unsuitable (as deemed by their agency) for paid carers to use a portable hoist they may refuse to help you (health and safety) if the recommended equipment isn't in place.

sounds like there may be a funding issue here? e.g. can be included in one grant now and funding otherwise will not be available later?

What is her reasoning? Is there anything wrong with the hoist they wish to replace.

I would have though you would have a good argument not to have considering the works involved in installing a ceiling hoist.

We were eing railroaded into using a new hoist (as they had go a new contract with some all singing dancing hoists). We tried the new hoists and they were actually not as good as our original fully manual hoist. it was infact heavier for me to use so as the Primary carer caused more problems for may back. We got the GP and physio support us in getting the original one reinstated.
