Hi
Thanks for the replies, I viewed the doctors report today which was filled in by a doctor I have never seen. He missed off 2 operations as well as 2 hip replacements from the form !!! When I asked him why he showed me my medical record on the computer and said that they hadn't been coded so he didn't know they exsisted.
He has told me that having now seen me and now understands the difficulties I have he will write a letter for my appeal stating his mistake.
I didn't see my doctors report the last 2 occations I was turned down - this now makes me wonder if there was as much info missing from those too.2013 Goals [STRIKE]ipad[/STRIKE] , Australia holiday,[STRIKE] cash [/STRIKE]:D0 -
OP you really need to get help completing the forms. As the previous posters have emphasised, it doesn't matter what operations and previous medical treatments you have had (unless you have a terminal illness). What counts for DLA is how your medical condition affects your way of life eg how far can you walk, can you cook a meal, etc.0

And can/should DLA be an option while treatment is still continuing and the outcome is not known? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Treatment is largely irrelevant.
The key is do you meet the forward/backward tests.
Are you likely to have care or mobility needs for 6 months in the future, and have you had them for 3 months in the past.
Likely outcome of the treatment program is of course important to this, but the fact you're undergoing it isn't.0 -
That was the point that I was getting at. If the medical team believe the treatment will be successful (within 6 months) then DLA would not apply. However if the treatment was not successful then could DLA be backdated?rogerblack wrote: »Likely outcome of the treatment program is of course important to thisThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. OP. It doesnt matter what operations you have had or whether or not your Dr mentioned them. The only information relevent is what care and mobility needs you have and you have to show them that they are ongoing and not likely to improve.
On the information suppplied it would seem extremely unlikely that you will get this benefit.0
