Foundation

All my life I used Panstik because it suited me and was great. But now I'm older and my skin is drier it looks too heavy. What foundation have you found good for very dry skin that doesn't look cloggy or heavy?

I like clinique repairwear - feels light but gives good coverage.

Erm, yup! That's generally what I pay for foundation. It lasts months though.

I'd rather spend a little more and buy something decent that lasts and looks good than buy something cheap that wrecks my skin and I end up throwing out.

All my makeup is Chanel/Mac/Bobbi Brown etc

I used to use No7 Intelligent Colour Foundation which is £15.50 for 40 mls now switched to Clinique Even Better Makeup which is £22 for 30mls, its so much better at coverage I use loads less per month.

If you do not have too much to cover you may try NO7's tinted moisturiser instead. I like it and think it is surprisingly good. Ask some of you friends for a 5 pound off voucher if they get nothing to buy. I never buy NO7 without a 5 pound off voucher.

When it comes to foundation, I have to say every penny counts. The best one I used was the skin caviar foundation from la prairie during winter days. It was very very very expensive if you buy it from department store, but I got 10 samples all together adding up to 15mls for 17 pounds from Ebay!!! What advice I can give you is trying from one brand to another and when you find the one you truly love do a search on Ebay. Go to department stores and ask sales for samples. If you have harvey nicholes in your city you may try a Japanese brand called shu umera, if my memory serves me right, you pay 26 pounds and you get a bottle of foundation. Good luck in hunting.

  • I have seen a few good reviews of Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. It's buy one get one half price in Boots.

I don't trust myself to pick the right shade or formulation of foundation so I always ask for recommendations and samples at counters in Boots or Debenhams. I've found Clarins staff really good for skin-related stuff :) Good luck :)

2True from Superdrug, nice finish and a princely £1.99 or 3 for a fiver throughout the range.

This new BB foundation sounds good, Around £7 from superdrug but
I found some in Home Bargains, selling it off at £1.99.
