Commercial machines, as used in launderettes, tend to have a hot program, that is used for whites/towels/bedding....or anything that won't shrink and the colours are all similar...usually 60 degrees or thereabouts.
Warm, suitable for mixed coloureds, or I generally wash clothes on that program, as it does tend to avoid any problems with shrinkage....usually 40 degrees.
Synthetics, a cooler wash, for delicates....usually about 30 degrees...sometimes a bit less.
Having said that, the amount of people that just bung everything into 1 one washers...whites/reds/blacks and it all comes out fine. I get one dark sock in with my lights, washed on warm and *kerpoof* they all turn grey.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -

then you'll be fine...of course you could bung it all on a colours wash if you are going to tumble dry the stuff...not very green ecological, but the tumble dryer will kill off the dust mites which would save you doing two loads for clothes and bedding?
It is only white clothes that shouldn't be mixed with others, or very pale clothes with new, dark clothes(the colours run)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I have a 7.5kg WM and wash in colours basically too.
All jeans and dark colours (inc our bedding)go on a 30c wash. (2 a week roughly)
All lighter colours (dd's bedding incl)non whites go on a 40c (2 a week roughly)
A white wash 50c (1 about every 2 weeks)
Towels 50c (1 a week)
We do about 5-6 loads a week and there is 3 of us.

My machine has the 90 whites and 60 whites ( i just checked). It also has colour fast cottons at 60 and non colour fast at 40. So you could use either of those 60 programmes for the bedding i guess.

Yes I was going to use the tumble dryer anyway so will just put it in a colours wash because one of my quilt covers has a white background so it might have run in the white wash anyway. Thanks.
I may as well separate the loads anyway as I have lots of washing!
Does anyone know if it's better to put all the big items together such as jeans or to mix small and large items in a load? Thanks.Student MoneySaving Club member 017!0
