how to date vinyl records?

hi got some really old vinyl records to sell on ebay. how do you know how old they are, whether they're the original pressing, a later copy or what? and how do you know if they are some kind of 'special issue ' or special edition? are there any websites out there where i can teach myself this stuff?!
