Citibank Relationship fee

I have had a citibank dollar account for a while but from the end of June 2012 they will start charging a fee unless you also hold a citibank plus account.
Now that is not a problem but the citibank plus account has a relationship fee unless you "credit the account with £1800 a month and have a minimum of 2 Direct debits paid"
now does this mean i have to keep £1800 in the account at all times or can i just set up a standing order so that I pay £1800 in lets say at the beginning of the month and then a week later transfer the same (less the Direct debit payments) back to my main current account and so on every month.
I dont want to use citibank as my main current account
