HI all,
Hope you can help me with this. Bought an ergonomic office chair for about £200 just under 12 months ago. the hydraulics that move it up and down broke after a couple of months. Me being lazy, had it on my todo list and it is now only a few days away from being 12 months. My questions are
1. Does SOGA give me any kind of warranty in that goods should last for a period of time? Spent some time reading on these forums but haven't found a specific answer.
2. Was i legally obliged to report the problem straight away? If so, should I tell the company it broke last month.
Thanks a lot. I need to call them this week but from reading the receipt I've realised they don't include a 12 month warranty so thought I'd better check with you guys first.

Read MSE's Consumer Rights article.
In there you will find that SOGA gives you the right to make a claim for upto six years.
You may find you will have to prove the fault was present at the time of sale, but the details are in that article.0 -
Thanks wealdroam, but I've already read through that and everything I can find. The chair worked when I got in, but only through normal useage (e.g. actually using the up and down on the chair) it slowly became erratic and then stopped working. Was this present when I bought it? (in the sense that the chair isn't properly made?)0

ok neilmcl, i see your point, but the chair failed after more like 6 months, after the hydraulic pump first became a bit dodgy, and then stopped working all together. when i got it home from the shop it worked perfectly. does SOGA cover this? there is no automatic warranty is there as it states "the fault was likely to have been there all along."0

Where was it purchased from.
Most shops will provide at least a 1 year warranty on all items.0 -
from a reputable office furniture shop with several shops across the country. I dont want to name names as they havent done anything wrong as i havent actually asked them, i just wanted to research first :^)
i will call them today and post back for other people interested0
