Bank Transfers, HSBC to Lloyds TSB, How long?

My friend transfered some money to me this morning from their HSBC account, it's gone from his account but has get to appear in my account.
He did it at about 9 this morning, and it's 2.30 now, so should i assume that it's most likely not coming today?
How long do these transfers usually take? (I do not know if it makes a difference, but the transfer was for £600)
Am i going to have to wait days?
Thanks in advance for any help

What feedback did he get at the time? If it said the transfer succeeded, you should have got the money."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

It should have said how long it may take when he made the online payment with HSBC.
Payments from HSBC are usually by Faster Payment and in my experience between HSBC and Halifax (same group as Lloyds TSB) it is instant.0 -
I saw on some posts on here that sometimes it can take 3 or 4 working days, is that not still the case then?0

If it didn't go by Faster Payments then it's usually next working day in my experience. What did your friend's confirmation screen say? HSBC online banking tells you if it is going to be credited within 2 hours (i.e. a Faster Payment) or alternatively next working day if for some reason a Faster Payment isn't possible.0
