Mulching
Hi All,
I've recently got an allotment in the last 12months and it's very sunny at the moment so I'm watering my runnerbean babies like mad. I understand if I mulch I don't lose as much as water.
But what mulch would you suggest, my compost bin hasn't rotted down very well, could I use chicken manure from my mums pile (it's over 12months old) or is there something better/easier?
Cheers
Rowanne

Rotted chicken poo would be fine, the runners will love it. Try and avoid it touching the stems
Some councils have rotted green compost for sale as a soil improver. Depending on price this may be useful [My Hants council's conditioner is dearer the Lidl's compost, so do check before buying]
The usual best bet is rotted horse poo, depends where you live & availability of courseWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
Could I use the chicken manure on my brassica patch (because of the ph?) or would a different mulch be better?0

Chicken poo will be fairly nitrogenous, and brassicas will love it
Rain & weather will soon sort out any PH troublesWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
